Dick Powell, Music Minister
My wife, Nancy, and I came to Woodridge in the Fall of 1998. It has been a time of joy becoming a part of this church family and this community. We have two grown children, Anne and Nathan, who are both married (Frank and Amanda are great) and living in Baton Rouge. (Which is fine except for the fact that our grandchildren - Abigail, Ethan, and Deacon - are four hours away.) Nancy is a registered nurse and has another full time job helping me to stay organized and remember things I would otherwise forget.
Aside from music ministry and spending time with family, I enjoy writing music for guitar, playing an occasional round of golf with friends (when I feel like being humiliated), and continuing my life-long quest in search of the perfect cup of coffee.
Steve Efferson, Youth Minister
My wife and I grew up in very different parts of the country. I grew up in south Louisiana loving gumbo, fried turkey, crawfish, and of course LSU football. My wife is an Okie. She was born in Missouri but spent most of her younger years growing up in Oklahoma. She is a pastor's daughter that has loved being part of ministry her whole life. She also loves to sing. We have three wonderful children that have blessed our lives beyond measure. There are very few dull moments with Lance, Riley, and Blake around. We love to play outside with our kids and work on those sports skills. My wife and I take our relationship with the Lord seriously. We both believe that He deserves and should have all of who we are.
We became members of Woodridge in 2005 when God called us to love and disciple the students that He places in our lives. I have been in youth ministry since 2001. I started when I was nineteen years old and have served churches in Louisiana and Texas. I love working with students and it has been a passion God has placed in my heart for years.
